The closing of the “cultural course” held on Thursday, June 6 at the College of Physicians of Alicante was a resounding success. The final touch of the tight agenda designed by the Socio-Cultural Area of the COMA, led by Dr. Juan José Lobato, which will resume next September. The afternoon began with the presentation of the moving work “El flotador del naufragio: sobre cómo la belleza nos salva” (The Shipwreck Float: On How Beauty Saves Us), by Dr. Beatriz Córdoba. A collection of poems written from the heart and from the experience of living in a world that is sometimes turbulent, agitated and dehumanized. Through intimate and experiential verses grouped in poems, it describes how beauty is the way to reach port and redeem one's own life.
The presentation of the work was carried out by the vice president of the COMA Cultural Athenaeum, Dr. D. Francisco Mas-Magro; along with him, the president of the College of Physicians, Dr. Hermann Schwarz; the member of Retired Physicians, Dr. Juan José Lobato; and the author, a specialist in Family and Community Medicine, Dr. Beatriz Córdoba. A presentation that brought together a large number of attendees, who had the opportunity to learn first-hand the emotions and thoughts of an author who has won the public's favor.
The cultural afternoon continued with a focus on the College Photography Club (Photomed), which inaugurated its XVII Collective Exhibition, under the title “Alicante in the lens”. The capital of Alicante has been in the spotlight of the cameras on this occasion. Its castles, its parks, its sunrises, its light, its festivals… Images and situations that identify the city and that each photographer has captured from their personal point of view. This was explained by the president of Photomed, Dr. María Teresa Martín, during the inauguration of the exhibition.
